The first ever running of the WCR as a team event - many thanks to Mick McGeogh for the following:
I can remember running from Powys Castle to Newtown, starting at about three o'clock in the morning. Because this was then strictly a relay, I didn't see a soul for the entire 12.7 miles. I'd heard that we were less than 2 minutes up on Cardiff after 9 stages, so it was very exciting. The only light I had was from the landrover following me. Running in almost pitch darkness and eerie silence, you do get a sensation of speed, I just felt as if I was running scared all the way. Even though we eventually won by half an hour, we always felt the issue was in doubt, so for prolonged excitement it was amazing.
Castles and Croup's legend, Mick McGeogh finishing another marathon in fine form (which one Mick?!)
